Still searching for the perfect pair of boots...

...and while I was at it, I thought I'd update the listings on the left. It seems a few more shops have shuffled off to the great shoe shop in the sky - The Tall Lady (although they are still doing a clearance), Step Tall and a few others have closed their doors. Tough times at the moment, and the crappy exchange rate won't have helped. I hope those that remain are able to keep going through the downturn.

Speaking of the crappy exchange rate, I fell in love with John Fluevog's Heidi boots:

but have been thwarted by the rubbish Canadian dollar rate at the moment. When I was last over there I was getting C$2.20 to the pound, now it's more like C$1.60, which makes a helluva difference when your heart's desire costs C$385.

So I set about scouring the shops on the left for something similar, or something a little dressier. The criteria: flat(ish), brown, no snakeskin, must be suede or leather, round or slightly pointed toe and a sole that can be resoled (ruling out most of the plastic-soled/moulded-sole boots that are common these days). Yes, I am fussy, what of it?? I want to wear the boots with a casual dress or perhaps with jeans tucked in; basically I want a comfy but sexy pair of boots that will last for a good few years.

Here are the options I found:

From Bigshoes.it

From Duo Boots

But then I just found a link to here: lovely Spanish riding boots. Very reasonably priced, and exactly what I'm looking for.

Hi Emma
Just found your size 9 blog - it's brilliant and exactly what I was meaning to do!! As a size 9, or 8, or 42 or 43..... In other words bigger than the high street caters for but completely inconsistent as everywhere sizes differently.... I spend half my life doing google searches on big shoes and long length trousers.
Yours is the best list I've come across by far! I'd like to add a couple though that you don't have links to, though may have mentioned in your comments:
Long Tall Sally now do up to size 11
Next do a size 43
Mr Shoes do a size 42
Also shoes - my absolute favourites!!! - do a size 42 which is often quite generous
Office do a 42
Nine West do a 42 - see Kurtz Geiger website
I think you have Tallgirls - brilliant selection
Celtic Sheepskin Company do size 11 ugg-type boots
Barratts have size 10
Clarks do a size 9
I love your idea of getting us leggy beauties together to swap shoes - I have soooo many I don't wear that I bought because they had my size but actually never fitted! I'm in Berkshire so if anyone fancies meeting up get in touch and let me know.
Ali :-)

Hello,

You can check out www.bigshoefriendly.com
It is a nice fashion blog, dedicated to women footwear in large sizes. They even have their own online store, but there you can mostly find the latest shoes in large sizes from a lot of online companies all over the world.
Try it. You will love this site. Trust me.

Hi Emma

I share your pain with my large size 8's and sometimes size 9 feet, at least it is easier to find shoes these days. Anyway, thought you might want to add Glamazon shoes here in Australia who regular provide me with my shoe fix! Here is their website http://www.glamazonshoes.com.au/ Also New Look in the UK do size 9's and wide fittings!! Thanks Karen
